The detainees are Sujon Mia, 23, a resident of Shovar Kuthi village in the Kochakata area of the upazila, and Monnaf, 36.
Kochakata Police Station said the special anti-drug drives were conducted in the morning in the presence of Assistant Superintendent of Police Muntasir Mamun Mun and Officer-in-Charge (OC) Arpan Kumar Das.
According to police, acting on a tip-off, a team conducted a raid in the Taltala area under Kochakata Police Station and detained Sujon Mia.
Police said an empty gas cylinder in his possession appeared suspicious and was later examined. After cutting open the cylinder, officers recovered nearly 8kg of Indian cannabis concealed inside it.
