President Mohammad Shahabuddin yesterday described the Bangladesh Ansar and Village Defence Party (VDP) members as vigilant guardians of rural Bangladesh, asking them to continue their glorious role in maintaining public safety and law and order.
The President said in a message issued yesterday marking the 46th National Rally-2026 of Bangladesh Ansar and VDP slated for today.
He said the Ansar force was reorganized in line with the far-sighted vision and plans of Shaheed Presi-dent Ziaur Rahman, while the Battalion Ansar was formed through enactment of the Ansar-VDP Act, 1995 under the leadership of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, giving the VDP a legal and organiza-tional foundation.
The President expressed the hope that the Ansar-VDP members would discharge their respective duties with utmost professionalism and discipline, giving priority to public interest.
