PM, his wife offers ziarat at Hazrat Shahjalal’s shrine

A Correspondent:

Sylhet: Prime Minister Tarique Rahman yesterday offered ziarat at the shrine of Hazrat Shahjalal (R) after arriving here this morning on his first official tour to attend several programs.
The Prime Minister offered fateha, recited Darood Sharif and prayed seeking peace for the country and the nation. His wife Dr Zubaida Rahman accompanied him.
Sylhet City Corporation Administrator Abdul Kaiyum Chowdhury was also present on the occasion.
Earlier, the Prime Minister, along with his wife, landed at Osmani International Airport here at 10:05 am on a domestic flight. After arriving at the airport, despite rain, he went to visit the shrine of Sufi saint Hazrat Shahjalal (R) located in the Dargah Gate area of the city.
Ignoring the inclement weather, thousands of people gathered along the route to welcome the Prime Minister on his way to the shrine. Standing on both sides of the road, they greeted him warmly.
Tarique Rahman waved in response to greetings from party leaders, activists and the public.
