Cox’s Bazar: Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized 20,000 Yaba tablets from Hinla area of Teknaf upazila in Cox’s Bazar district.
Acting on a tip-off, a team of BGB-64 from Ukhiya Battalion intercepted a man coming from the Naf River and challenged him on Tuesday night, said Commanding Officer of BGB-64 Lieutenant Colonel Zahirul Islam.
Sensing the presence of BGB personnel, the man managed to flee the scene, leaving behind a sack.
Later, BGB members recovered 20,000 Yaba tablets from the sack.
Intelligence surveillance has been intensified to arrest the man, he said.
Such operations will continue in future as BGB, alongside ensuring border security, is working against drug trafficking and smuggling, he added.
