Retd teachers to get chance in private schools

Staff Reporter<:/strong>
The Ministry of Education has directed authorities to prepare a pool of retired and physically fit teachers to support academic activities in private educational institutions across the country.
According to an official letter issued on April 9, the initiative aims to address the ongoing shortage of teachers and ensure uninterrupted classroom teaching.
The letter, sent to all Deputy Commissioners, Upazila Nirbahi Officers, and the Director General of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education, mentioned that delays in teacher recruitment through the Non-Government Teachers’ Registration and Certification Authority (NTRCA) have disrupted academic activities in many institutions.
To mitigate this situation, district administrations have been requested to take necessary steps to create upazila-based pools of retired teachers who are still physically capable of teaching.
It said based on the advice of the Upazila Nirbahi Officer, the concerned managing committees, govern-ing bodies, or ad hoc committees of institutions will be allowed to temporarily appoint teachers from the pool as needed.
The ministry emphasized that the initiative is intended to maintain continuity in classroom teaching and ensure quality education through the engagement of experienced educators.
The letter also instructed that honorariums for the appointed retired teachers should be paid from the institutions’ own funds under essential expenditure heads.
