Two passengers of an easy bike (battery-run auto-rickshaw) were killed after being hit by a microbus in Satkania on the Chattogram-Cox’s Bazar highway.

The accident occurred around 9:30am on Wednesday in the BOC Mor area of Kaliaish Union in the upazila.

The deceased were identified as Ranjit Dhar (55) and Babul Dey, also known as Bali (65), both residents of Ward No. 2 of Dohazari Municipality.

According to police and local sources, the victims were traveling towards Dohazari in a battery-powered auto-rickshaw. At the BOC Mor area, a speeding microbus hit the auto-rickshaw from behind, causing both vehicles to be thrown off the highway and fall by the roadside. Passengers of both vehicles were seriously injured.

Locals rescued them and took them to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH), where the on-duty doctor declared Ranjit and Babul dead.
