Prime Minister Tarique Rahman has instructed all ministries to take coordinated action to prevent violence against women, Cabinet Secretary Md Nasimul Ghani said on Tuesday.
He said the directive was issued at the cabinet meeting held earlier in the day.
“The prime minister has ordered speedy disposal of cases related to rape and violence against women,” the cabinet secretary said, adding that greater coordination among the relevant departments has also been emphasised.
He noted that ensuring justice in cases of rape and violence against women remains one of the government’s top priorities.
“The cabinet also discussed five issues at the meeting. Among them, changes to the current fiscal year’s revised budget were approved and will be sent to parliament for endorsement,” Nasimul Ghani added.
