Main Eid Jamaat to be held at Nat’l Eidgah

Staff Reporter:

The main Eid-ul-Fitr congregation will be held at 8:30am at the National Eidgah on the High Court premises in the capital on the Eid day.
It will be held at Baitul Mukarram National Mosque at 9am in case of inclement weather.
The decision was taken at a recent inter-ministerial meeting yesterday.
The meeting was held at the conference room of the Ministry of Religious Affairs and was chaired by Religious Affairs Minister Kazi Shah Mofazzal Houssain Kaikobad.
Subject to the sighting of the moon, Eid-ul-Fitr, the biggest religious festival of Muslims, will be cele-brated on March 20 or March 21.
The meeting also decided to form a six-member committee, with the Director General of the Islamic Foundation as the convener, to take an immediate decision on shifting the main Eid congregation to Baitul Mukarram National Mosque in case of severe weather.
It was also decided that the Islamic Foundation will send a list of three prominent Islamic scholars for the role of imam, three noted Qaris for recitation of the Holy Quran and three presenters to conduct the Eid congregation to the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
From this list, the ministry will nominate one imam and an alternate imam, one Qari and an alternate Qari, and one presenter and an alternate presenter for the main Eid congregation.
