The government has withdrawn five Bangladeshi envoys from their overseas postings and instructed them to report to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs headquarters in Dhaka, the ministry said yesterday.
In a statement issued on Sunday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said four ambassadors appointed on a contractual basis have been withdrawn from their respective missions in Portugal, Poland, Mexico and the Maldives.
The ambassadors are- Dr M. Mahfuzul Haque, Md Mainul Islam, M Mushfiqul Fazal (Ansarey) and Dr Md Nazmul Islam.
They have been transferred to the headquarters of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Dhaka, the state-ment added.
In addition, Bangladesh High Commissioner to the United Kingdom Abida Islam has also been with-drawn from her post and transferred to the ministry’s headquarters.
All five envoys have been instructed to report to the headquarters, the ministry said.
