‘Transparency, accountability ICT sector’s principles’

Newly appointed Minister of Posts, Telecommunications and Information Technology and Minister of Science and Technology, Faqir Mahbub Anam, yesterday said that transparency and accountability would be the core principles in the country’s ICT sector.
He made the remarks while addressing a reception accorded to him by the ICT Division at its conference room in Agargaon in the capital.
The minister laid utmost emphasis on ensuring transparency and accountability in all activities of the ICT sector. He said professionalism and sincerity of officials are essential for implementing the policies adopted by the government.
Describing ICT as a highly important and promising sector, he said the government has attached priority to expanding ICT services to every upazila and making technological facilities easily accessible to com-mon people across the country, said a press release.
Calling upon officials to perform their duties responsibly from their respective positions, the minister said, “Let us work together.”
Senior officials of the ICT Division and heads of its different departments and agencies, among others, were present at the function.
