In a message yesterday, he said the month of Ramadan is a month of self-restraint, sacrifice, compassion, and self-purification.
“In this blessed month, through fasting, charity, and worship, we attain spiritual purification, while also fostering mutual empathy and harmony among all, and seeking the pleasure, closeness, and forgiveness of Almighty Allah,” he said.
Prof Yunus said, “The holy month of Ramadan inspires us, in both our personal and national lives, to avoid injustice, corruption, and wrongdoing, and to establish a society based on justice and welfare.”
Alongside worship and devotion, this month teaches morality and humanity through the practice of truthfulness, integrity, fairness, and mutual compassion, and awakens a sense of responsibility toward the poor and the deprived people, he said.
“Let us be inspired by the teachings of Ramadan to renounce luxury, violence, and hatred, and devote ourselves more to worship, recitation of the Holy Qur’an, prayers, repentance, and good deeds in pursuit of the pleasure of Almighty Allah, and preserve the sanctity of Ramadan,” he said.
He prayed for almighty Allah accept our fasting, prayers, charity, and all righteous deeds, and grant us the ability to implement the teachings of Ramadan in our lives.
“May Almighty Allah forgive and protect us all, and grant peace and prosperity to the country and the nation,” he said.
