Army chief visits Shariatpur ahead of 13th parliamentary election

Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman visited Shariatpur on Tuesday ahead of the 13th parliamentary election and the referendum on the July National Charter.

During the visit, he exchanged views with senior military officers, as well as officials from law enforcement agencies and the civil administration of Shariatpur, Faridpur, and Munshiganj districts under Dhaka division, at the conference room of the Shariatpur District Circuit House.

The meeting focused on inter-agency coordination and overall security management to ensure that the upcoming national election is held in a peaceful, neutral, and fair manner.

General Waker-Uz-Zaman emphasised the importance of professionalism, neutrality, discipline, patience, and citizen-friendly behaviour in carrying out their duties.

He also inspected the on-ground activities of army members deployed under the “In Aid to the Civil Power” arrangement and provided them with necessary instructions.

During the Shariatpur visit, the general officer commanding of the Army Training and Doctrine Command (ARTDOC), the master general of ordnance, the general officer commanding of the 9th Infantry Division and area commander of the Savar area, and senior military officials from the army headquarters and Savar area were present.
