Inspector General of Police (IGP) Bahrul Alam yesterday expressed the hope that his colleagues will demonstrate professionalism, impartiality and a strong sense of responsibility in the upcoming 13th Jati-ya Sangsad polls and referendum slated for February 12.
“The Bangladesh Police is currently at a crucial turning point and is working tirelessly to boost the mo-rale of its members and regain public trust,” he said.
The police chief made the remarks while addressing Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP) probation-ers of the 27th BCS (Police) batch at the Hall of Integrity at Police headquarters, a police press release said yesterday.
Congratulating the ASP probationers, he described their joining as not only a personal achievement but also the restoration of their rightful positions.
Referring to the long deprivation faced by officers of the 27th BCS (Police) batch, he said the victory of the student and public led Mass Uprising paved the way for them to reclaim their legitimate rights after a prolonged legal process.
Among the probationers, 60 officers are from the 27th BCS batch, one from the 28th batch and six from the 43rd batch.
Additional Inspector Generals, AKM Awlad Hossain (Administration), Md. Akram Hossain (Finance), Khondaker Rafiqul Islam (Crime and Operations), Mosleh Uddin Ahmed (Logistics) and Sarder Nurul Amin (Development) were also present at the ceremony.
