BNP’s program to observe Zia’s birth anniversary

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) will observe the 90th birth anniversary of its founder, Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman with a two-day program beginning January 19, marking the occasion with due respect.
Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman is remembered as the proclaimer of Bangladesh’s independence, advo-cate of multi-party democracy and an architect of modern Bangladesh.
BNP Senior Secretary General Ruhul Kabir Rizvi announced the programme at a press conference at the party’s central office in Nayapaltan this afternoon.
Rizvi said that party leaders and activists from all levels, along with members of the BNP National Standing Committee, will lay wreaths and offer Fatiha at the mausoleum of Shaheed President Ziaur Rahman in Sher-e-Bangla Nagar on January 19, at 11 am.
Doctors’ Association of Bangladesh (DAB) will organize a medical camp as part of the birth anniversary activities, he added.
A discussion program will be held at 11:00 am on January 20, at the Institution of Diploma Engineers Bangladesh (IDEB) auditorium in Kakrail. Senior BNP leaders and prominent national figures are scheduled to speak at the event.
To mark the occasion, BNP flags will be hoisted at the central office and all party offices nationwide on January 19.
Simultaneously, discussion meetings and dua mahfils will be organized by BNP and its allied organiza-tions at district, metropolitan, upazila, and thana-level units across the country.
Posters have been prepared for the occasion and special supplements will be published in various nation-al newspapers on January 19.
