Two held over killing grocery trader in N’ganj

Members of Rapid Action Battalion (RAB) have arrested two people in connection with the murder of a grocery trader in Narayanganj’s Araihazar upazila.
The arrestees are- Md. Zahirul Islam Zahir, 34, son of late Anisur Rahman of Goalpara village in So-nargaon upazila, and Yunus, 30, son of late Haque Saheb of Baroipara village in Araihazar upazila.
The elite force conducted a drive in Narayanganj’s Araihazar and Madanpur areas on Monday night and arrested them, said Rizwan Sayeed Ziku, senior assistant superintendent of police (ASP) officer of the RAB-11 (media).
The RAB official said the victim, Amir Hossain, had a longstanding dispute with the accused.
Amir Hossain was called from his home by the accused around 10:30 pm on Friday.
Later, they killed him and dumped his body in a paddy field belonging to Jakir Hossain of Narayanganj’s Madobdi area.
On Sunday, a case was filed at Araihazar police station following a complaint lodged by the deceased’s wife Jakia Akter.
During preliminary interrogation, the arrestees confessed to their involvement in the murder.
They were handed over to the investigating officer of the case at Araihazar police station for further ac-tion, the RAB official added.
