Upazila land office key for citizen services: Adviser

Staff Reporter:

Land Adviser Ali Imam Majumder yesterday said upazila land office is one of the main centers of citizen services but it faces many challenges to ensure hassle-free services.
“The activities of land administration are mainly conducted at the upazila level through the upazila land office. Almost all land-related services to the common people are provided through this office. There-fore, the upazila land office is one of the main centers of citizen services, he added.
He said these while addressing a workshop titled ‘Upazila Land Office Services: Challenges of Good Governance and Ways to Overcome’ at the auditorium of Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB) in the capital.
Land Ministry Senior Secretary ASM Saleh Ahmed addressed the workshop as the special guest while TIB Executive Director Dr Iftekharuzzaman delivered the welcome speech at the event.
Ali Imam said that for a long time, people have been suffering due to lack of good governance and transparency in the land sector. Therefore, establishing good governance in the land sector is the demand of the hour, he added.
In view of this demand, he said, the government has digitalized land administration, now all land ser-vices are available online from home.
