Skilled, honest youth force stressed

Staff Reporter:

Housing and Public Works Adviser Adilur Rahman Khan yesterday said youth force must be trans-formed into human resources to ensure sustainable development and build inclusive Bangladesh.
“The main asset of Bangladesh is its young population. Youth must be trained and skilled through educa-tion and training to transform challenges into opportunities through skills and innovation,” he said.
The adviser made these remarks while addressing the inaugural ceremony of IDEB’s (Institution of Di-ploma Engineers, Bangladesh) 55th founding anniversary and Public Engineering Day at IDEB Bhaban in city’s Kakrail.
Adilur stated that it is necessary to have principles and honesty along with efficiency for sustainable de-velopment. The development plan will not be sustainable if the integrity and patriotism of the skilled people are lacking, he added.
He said engineers should not just do the prescribed work, they should focus on research and innovation to meet the current and future challenges, he added.
IDEB central convener Engineer Md Kabir Hossain presided over the meeting while member secretary Kazi Sakhawat Hossain gave welcome address.
After the discussion, the adviser inaugurated a colorful rally by releasing pigeons and balloons on the IDEB building premises.
Later, the colorful rally paraded different streets of the city.
