Four people died after excessive alcohol consumption on the final night of Durga Puja celebrations, Dashami, in Bogura.
Abdul Manik (25) died Friday morning and Abdullahel Kafi (30) in the afternoon at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College (SZMC) Hospital.
Earlier, Mizanur Rahman Mondal (50) passed away on Tuesday and Nasidul Islam (27) on Thursday. All four deceased were residents of Khottapara Purba Para village in Shajahanpur Upazila, Bogura. Another person, Ranju Mia (28), remains hospitalized in critical condition.
Shajahanpur Police Station OC Shafiqul Islam said that on the evening of 2 October, Dashami day, several people drank alcohol together near the Sanatan Dharmashala Puja Mandap in Bejora Madhyapara area of Shajahanpur Upazila.
After falling ill, they initially received treatment at home. As their condition worsened, family members admitted them to SZMC Hospital on 4 October.
At the hospital, Mizanur Rahman Mondal died on the night of 7 October, Nasidul Islam on the night of 9 October, and Abdul Manik and Abdullahel Kafi on 10 October.
The OC added that no complaint was filed by the families, so the bodies were handed over without postmortem.
