Woman, daughter killed as train hits CNG-run autorickshaw in Ctg

Staff Reporter:

A woman and her daughter were killed as an intercity train hit a CNG-run autorickshaw carrying them on a level crossing in Sitakunda upazila of Chattogram on Thursday.

The deceased, Maksuda Begum, 45, and Sanjida Sultana, 25, hailed from the Bara Kumira Bazar area under the upazila.

Sitakunda Railway Police Camp in-charge Sub-Inspector Md Ahsraf Siddique said the CNG-run autorickshaw went out of order on an unauthorised level crossing in the Moulvipara area this afternoon when the Dhaka-bound Mohanagar Express hit the vehicle.

The collision left the duo critically injured and they were sent to Chittagong Medical College Hospital, where doctors declared them dead, said Assistant Sub-Inspector Alauddin Talukder of the CMCH police outpost.
