Autocrat fled, but invisible force rising again: Tarique

Staff Reporter:

BNP acting chairman Tarique Rahman on Saturday said although the autocrat has fled the country, an “invisible force” is gradually emerging here.

He expressed hope that if leaders and activists maintain strong unity until February, the people’s mandate will come in favour of the “sheaf of paddy” symbol.

“The autocrat has gone, while the interim government is running the country. They have put forward reform proposals. About 95% of these proposals were already presented by the BNP to the nation and its people two and a half years ago,” he said.

Tarique was addressing a conference of the Kishoreganj district unit BNP as the chief guest virtually.

He urged everyone to remain vigilant so that no one could exploit the party’s name for personal interests and create confusion about the party among the countrymen.

“The most important thing for the Bangladesh Nationalist Party is the country’s people. We must stand by them and ensure that the people remain by our side. Make sure of it at any cost,” the BNP leader said.

Putting emphasis on the unity among BNP leaders and activists, Tarique said, “If we can maintain an unwavering unity until February, the people’s verdict will favour the ‘sheaf of paddy’ symbol.”
