Six more deaths were reported from dengue in the past 24 hours till Thursday morning, raising the number of fatalities from the mosquito-borne disease in Bangladesh to 145 this year.
In the 24-hour span, 586 more patients were hospitalised with viral fever, raising the total caseload to 36,682 this year.
Among the fatalities, three were reported under Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), one under Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC), and one each in Mymensingh and Rajshahi divisions, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The deceased included four men and two women.
Of the latest cases, 109 were admitted to hospitals in Barishal division, 58 in Chattogram division, 104 in Dhaka division, 144 in DNCC, 103 in DSCC, 12 in Mymensingh division, 44 in Rajshahi division, and 10 in Rangpur division, and two in Sylhet division.
The DGHS said that 60.1% men and 39.9% women have been infected with dengue from 1 January to 11 September this year.
Currently, 1,792 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the country.
Last year, dengue claimed the lives of 575 people.
According to the DGHS, there were 1,01,214 dengue cases and 1,00,040 recoveries in the same year.
