2 bodies formed to find out false implications in cases

Staff Reporter:

The government has formed two separate four-member committees at district and metropolitan levels to supervise the activities of submitting interim investigation report aimed at relieving the individuals who were falsely implicated in the criminal cases.
The home ministry issued an official order in this connection.
The district magistrate (deputy commissioner) will act as convener of each district level committee while metropolitan police commissioner will head the metropolitan areas.
Remaining three other members of the committee at the district level are police super, public prosecutor and additional police super of crime and operations (member secretary).
The three members of the metropolitan level committee are representative of the divisional commission-er, metropolitan public prosecutor and a police officer at the rank of police super of metropolitan police (member secretary).
The government has incorporated section 173A to the Criminal Procedure Code (CrPC) with a provision of submitting an interim investigation report to make the criminal justice system as people-friendly and hassle-free and committees have been formed to pursue the system.
The committees have been tasked with the authority of collecting the cases filed at the district and met-ropolitan areas linked to the July-August of 2024 Mass Uprising and preparing a list of the cases.
The committees will also collect the cases against which orders have been issued across the country to submit an interim investigation report after incorporating section 173A to the CrPC and prepare their list.
The committees will also supervise whether the investigation officers have taken into cognizance the rel-evant issues regarding the cases.
The committees will collect the statistics of the cases against which interim investigation reports were submitted and how many people were acquitted on the basis of the reports.
The committees will submit a report twice in a month in this regard.
