Army Chief returns home after visiting China

Chief of Army Staff General Waker-Uz-Zaman returned home last night after an official visit to China.

During the visit, he made courtesy calls on high-ranking Chinese military and civilian officials, including Political Commissar General Chen Hui of the People’s Liberation Army (PLA) Ground Forces, and discussed various issues of bilateral interest, said an ISPR press release here today.

On 22 August, the Army Chief was accorded a ‘Guard of Honor’ upon his arrival at the PLA Headquarters.

Later, the Army Chief paid a courtesy call on PLA Ground Forces Political Commissar General Chen Hui.

During the meeting, they discussed strategic cooperation between the two countries, people-to-people communication, and assistance in the return of forcibly displaced Myanmar citizens.

In addition, the issue of securing China’s assistance for the development of Bangladesh’s military industry was discussed.

The Army Chief paid a courtesy call on Chen Defang, President of China’s NORINCO Group, on 23 August.

During the meeting, they discussed various issues related to the interests of the Bangladesh Army.

The meeting also discussed the upgrading and maintenance of various military equipment of the NORINCO Group currently in use by the Bangladesh Army.

In addition, the Army Chief visited the training facilities of the Beijing campus of the PLA’s Academy of Armoured Forces, including various military equipment production laboratories.

It is mentionable that Bangladesh Army officers receive technical training at the academy of international standard.

Besides, during the visit, the Army Chief visited various factories and research centers of the NORINCO Group located in Beijing and Xiang, China Aerospace Long-March International Co Ltd, and Aisheng UAV Factory, along with other modern weapons and ammunition manufacturing factories.

The Army Chief went to China on 20 August on an official visit.
