ACC conducts drives over graft allegations

Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has conducted drive in different areas of the country on the basis of complaints filed by sufferers in the commission on irregularities and corruption.
Separate teams of the enforcement unit of the ACC conducted the drives in Dhaka, Jhenaidah and Sylhet.
An ACC team raided Livestock Directorate in Dhaka to probe into an allegation of irregularities in the tender process of the Livestock and Dairy Development Project.
The team seized relevant documents from the project office and talked to the project director. The team will submit detailed report after investigation into the allegation.
In Jhenaidah a team of ACC integrated district office conducted drive at Kaliganj sub-registry office of the district on the allegation of taking bribe from the service seekers.
The team members talked to the service receivers and came to know that all staffs including the sub-registrar regularly take bribe from the people during the registration of land. In this regard, the team also collected some evidences from the office.
The enforcement team of ACC Sylhet office conducted a drive at Biyani Bazar Upazila Health Complex to investigate into the allegation of irregularities in providing health services and harassment of patients.
The team found that the hospital authority doesn’t serve quality food and essential drugs to the patients despite having sufficient stock.
The team also found that a section of hospital staff and one ambulance driver are involved in various types of irregularities, causing immense sufferings and financial burden to the patients.
The team will submit report to the commission in this regard, ACC source said.
