DG-level BGB-BSF meet begins today

The 56th Director General (DG)-level border conference between Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) and Border Security Force (BSF) of India formally begins today.
To attend the four-day conference (August 25-28) at the BGB Headquarters in the capital’s Pilkhana ar-ea, a nine-member Indian delegation led by BSF Director General (DG) Daljit Singh Chaudhary has arrived in Dhaka yesterday, a BGB press release said.
When the Indian delegation arrived at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport in Dhaka this after-noon, BGB Director General Major General Mohammad Ashrafuzzaman Siddiqui welcomed the Indian delegation, the press release said.
According the BGB, the four-day DG-level conference between BGB and BSF of India will officially begin today morning at the BGB Headquarters, Pilkhana, Dhaka.
The conference will conclude on August 28.
The DGs of the border guard forces of both countries will lead their respective delegations in the confer-ence.
In addition to the border guards of their respective countries, representatives of various border-related organizations will also participate in the conference.
This year’s conference will focus on preventing border killings, push-ins and illegal infiltration, prevent-ing smuggling of drugs, arms and ammunition and other contraband from India.
Apart from these, implementing various developmental activities within 150 yards of the international border and preventing unauthorized infrastructure construction, preserving the banks of the border rivers and realizing a fair share of the water of the border rivers, taking joint initiatives to implement the Inte-grated Border Management Plan will be prominently discussed in the upcoming conference.
Initiatives will also be taken to defuse the tension created on the border due to the recent anti-Bangladesh propaganda in the Indian media.
Bilateral issues and issues related to border interests between the two countries will be discussed.
The part BGB-BSF DG-level conference was held in Delhi last February.
In continuation of this, the BGB-BSF conference will be held in Dhaka this time.
In this conference, the BGB will prioritize the interests of the country and the people.
