Chief Adviser Prof Mohammad Yunus has greeted BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia on the occasion of her 81st birthday.
Shazeeb M. Khairul Islam, private secretary to the chief adviser and Mohammad Nazmul Islam, director of the chief adviser’s office, paid a courtesy visit to BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan residence and presented a bouquet of flowers to her Private Secretary, ABM Abdus Sattar, at around 4 pm on Friday.
BNP Central Committee Member Belayat Hossain, the party’s media wing member Sayrul Kabir Khan and Khaleda Zia’s office staff Masud Rahman, among others, were present at that time.
BNP Chairperson and former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia’s 81st birthday today and the day is being observed through peaceful religious events, including doa and milad mahfils, at BNP offices and various mosques across the country, as well as in the capital Dhaka.
As in recent years, BNP has instructed leaders and activists of its different fronts and associate bodies to refrain from cutting cakes or holding celebratory events.
A doa mahfil was held at BNP’s Nayapaltan headquarters. Prayers were also offered there, seeking eternal peace for the departed souls of those who lost their lives during the 1971 Liberation War, the 1990 mass uprising and the 2024 mass movement and for the recovery of those injured.
Begum Khaleda Zia, a prominent figure in the country’s political history and widely regarded as the leader of BNP, was born on 15 August 1945 in Dinajpur.
She is the daughter of Iskander Majumdar of Fulgazi, Feni and Tayyaba Majumdar of Chandanbari. While studying at Dinajpur Surendranath College, she married then Pakistan Army Captain Ziaur Rahman.
