A journalist was hacked to death by assailants in Gazipur on Thursday night. The horrifying attack took place around 8:00 pm in front of the Mosque Market, located in the bustling Chandana Chowrasta area. The journalist was seated at a tea stall when the assailants struck.
The deceased, Md. Asaduzzaman Tuhin (38), was a staff reporter for the Daily Protidiner Kagoj in Gazipur.
He was the son of Hasan Jamal from Bhatipara village under Fulbaria Police Station in Mymensingh. Tuhin lived with his family in the Chandana Chowrasta area.
According to sources, earlier in the afternoon, Tuhin had gone live on social media, exposing extortion activities involving footpaths and local shops in the Chandana Chowrasta area. Later that evening, while he was having tea in front of the Mosque Market, a group of assailants suddenly surrounded him and launched a vicious attack with sharp weapons, killing him on the spot.
Officer-in-Charge of Basan Police Station, Shaheen Khan, said that police recovered the body and sent it to the morgue. An investigation is underway to determine the motive behind the murder.
