Liberation War Affairs Adviser Faruk E Azam, Bir Protik, yesterday said 78 July fighters injured in the mass uprising have been sent to Thailand, Singapore, Russia and Turkey for better treatment.
A total of Taka 97,50,28,102 has been spent on the treatment of these July fighters where the main pur-pose was not money but proper medical services, he said.
The adviser was speaking as the chief guest at the reception of the families of the martyrs killed in the July student-worker mass uprising and the July injured fighters organized by the National Garments Workers Federation at the Jatiya Press Club in the capital.
Faruk said the government has taken a comprehensive program for the injured and martyrs of the 2024 mass uprising.
Among these, the injured will receive a monthly allowance according to their category. ‘A’ category July fighter will get Taka 20,000, ‘B’ category Taka 15,000 and ‘C’ category Taka10,000, he said.
They have also received a one-time grant while lifelong free medical care has been ensured for the in-jured, which will be applicable in all government hospitals, said the adviser.
He said they have also been provided with a health card for this purpose.
He said that the health ministry has taken full responsibility for the treatment of the injured and neces-sary treatment has been provided to them in all specialized hospitals of the country and will be provided in the future as well.
Faruk said the government has taken a major rehabilitation scheme for the rehabilitation of the injured July fighters.
The injured will be rehabilitated according to their choice, he said, adding those who do not have the necessary qualifications will be trained.
After training, arrangements will be made to provide them with jobs according to their qualifications and needs, he said, adding arrangements will be made so that they can live comfortably.
The event, chaired by Garment Workers Federation President Aminul Haque Amin, was attended by Head of the Labor Reforms Commission Syed Sultan Uddin Ahmed, National Garment Workers Federa-tion Adviser Advocate Abed Raja, Sramik Karmochari Oikya Parishad Coordinator Abdul Quader How-lader, and Industrial Bangladesh Council General Secretary Bablu Akhtar, among others.
Later, the adviser distributed cheques of financial assistance to the families of the garment workers mar-tyred in the July Uprising and the injured.
