Staff Reporter:

Chief Advisor Professor Muhammad Yunus on Friday said social business can change not only Bangladesh but also the whole world.

He said social business is the only right way to ensure healthcare for everyone in the world and through this it is quite possible to address the challenges of the healthcare sector.

The Chief Adviser made the remarks while addressing the inaugural session of the two-day Social Business Day programme at the Samajik Convention Centre in Zirabo, Savar, on the outskirts of Dhaka.

The theme for this year is “Social Business is the Most Effective Way to Ensure Healthcare for All”.

More than 1,400 participants from 38 countries are taking part in the two-day event.

Advisers to the interim government, senior government officials and diplomats stationed in Dhaka were present on the occasion.

The 15th edition of Social Business Day is being hosted jointly by the Yunus Centre and Grameen Group.

The event aims to be a global convergence of knowledge, experience, and innovation and find ways to address the inequalities and limitations across healthcare and other sectors to build a sustainable, just, and humane world.

The two-day programme will feature five plenary sessions and eight breakout sessions focused on diverse perspectives and ideas.

Prominent speakers including Professor Md Saidur Rahman, Health and Family Welfare assistant to the Chief Adviser; Omar Ishrak, former CEO and Chairman of Medtronic and former Chairman of the Board, Intel Corporation; Dr Ismail Serageldin, former Vice President of the World Bank; and Erik Solheim, former Executive Director of UN Environment and former Minister of Environment and Climate, Norway, are expected to join the event.
