Staff Reporter:
As Covid-19 infections begin to rise again in Bangladesh, the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) has decided to resume limited-scale Covid-19 testing in hospitals.
Initially, testing will restart at medical college and district hospitals equipped with RT-PCR laboratories.
Professor Halimur Rashid, Director of the Communicable Disease Control (CDC) wing of the DGHS, shared this information with the media on Wednesday (June 11).
He stated that hospitals with existing RT-PCR labs have been instructed to prepare for the reintroduction of Covid-19 testing. Test kits are being procured from local suppliers, and the Central Medical Stores Depot (CMSD) has also been directed to import kits from abroad.
“We hope to resume Covid-19 testing within the next 10 days, though initially on a limited scale,” Professor Rashid added.
