Govt outlaws Awami League activities

The interim government has banned all activities of the Awami League until trials of the party and its leaders at the International Crimes Tribunal are concluded.

On Saturday night, the advisory council made the decision at an emergency meeting presided over by Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus at the state guest house Jamuna in Dhaka.

Informing the matter to journalists, Law Adviser Asif Nazrul read out a written statement at a press briefing in front of Jamuna after the meeting.
