HSRC highlights 7 pillars in its report

Staff Reporter:

The Health Sector Reform Commission (HSRC) has submitted report highlighting seven pillars to ensure universal healthcare.
The pillars are– health service and physical infrastructure; leadership; good governance and working culture; health workforce management; health workforce education and training; essential medicines, medical technology and equipment supply; and health sector financing and health information systems.
The members of the commission, led by its Chairman Professor AK Azad Khan, handed over the rec-ommendations to the Chief Adviser Prof Dr. Muhammad Yunus at the state guest house “Jamuna” yes-terday.
At the beginning of the report, the commission mentioned that this reform report is dedicated to the memory of the great Liberation War of 1971 and martyred heroes in July-August 2024.
According to the proposal, despite Bangladesh’s significant progress in the primary health care sector in the last decades since independence, Bangladesh has lagged far behind in achieving the Sustainable De-velopment Goals (SDGs) and universal health coverage.
The commission has also mentioned the public opinion survey in the report.
In the survey, 97 percent of the respondents said that primary health care should be provided free of cost.
