Staff Reporter:
Planning Adviser Dr Wahiduddin Mahmud yesterday said that they had asked the Deputy Com-missioners (DCs) to send proposals to the ministries and divisions concerned about the local devel-opment work requirements in their respective areas.
The Planning Adviser said this after the 2nd working session on the Ministries of Planning and Education at the Osmani Memorial Auditorium in the capital on the 1st day of the DC Confer-ence.
He said the DCs have been asked to send proposals on local potential projects like construction of roads, bridges, and school buildings as those could be damaged or dilapidated.
Dr Mahmud said the deputy commissioners have been suggested to send the lists of those to the concerned ministries, divisions or directly to the Planning Commission.
He informed that the DCs had also been asked so that the implementation of the welfare-oriented projects is not hindered.
He also advocated for making necessary arrangements for resuming the operations of those projects where contractors left the site after keeping the works half done.
In this regard, the Planning Adviser said the deputy commissioners have been suggested to take necessary measures and supplement the authorities ‘concerned move to appoint new contractors, if necessary, to complete the welfare-oriented development initiatives.
He noted the development expenditure has declined a bit since they made thorough scrutiny about the development schemes.
The Planning Adviser also directed the deputy commissioners to enforce strict monitoring on the new development schemes, which have been undertaken recently.
