BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has blamed a vested quarter for its efforts to split the nation, saying that national unity must be formed to protect the country and to restore democracy.
“I urge everyone to refrain from engaging in divisive political rhetoric. We must form national unity to save the country and restore democracy,” he said after addressing a book launching function at BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia’s Gulshan office in Dhaka on Thursday.
He unveiled the cover of the book titled“Rajbandir Jabanbandi” which chronicles the court depositions of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia in false cases.
After the violent downfall of the Sheikh Hasina-led Awami League government, No one can keep faith in anyone, he said adding that reform is a must, but it must be carried out by an elected parliament and government.
“Otherwise, the legitimacy of the reform must be held questionable. I don’t want to engage in a fresh debate over this issue now,” said the BNP leader.
