Khulna: A court in Khulna on Sunday sentenced two people to life imprisonment for killing a man in Terkhada upazila in 2009.
The lifers are Roman Fakir and Milu Mollah.
Khulna additional district and sessions judge 1 Md. Amirul Islam delivered the judgment in absence of the convicts.
The court also fined them Tk 50,000 each, in default, to suffer 2 years more in jail.
According to the case details, Milu Mollah summoned one Sabuj of the same village on November 5, 2009 suspecting that he had affairs with his wife and then strangled him to death in a planned way.
Later, his mother filed a murder case at Terkhada police station.
Another convict, Roman Fakir, confessed to his involvement in the murder and then police recovered the deceased’s skeleton in 2011.
A charge sheet was submitted to the court by investigating officer of the case SI Babar Ali Khan of Patla Police Camp in Terkhada Upazila against four accused on January 15, 2012. Twenty two witnesses gave statement in court throughout the trial.
