Spouses of chiefs of foreign missions call on JS Speaker

Spouses of chiefs of different foreign missions stationed in Dhaka paid a courtesy call on Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury at the Oath Room of JS Bhaban yesterday.
The missions are- World Bank, European Union, Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO), Bay of Bengal Initiative for Multi-Sectoral Technical and Economic Cooperation (BIMSTEC), Germany, Italy, The Netherlands, Sweden, Australia, China and India.
During the meeting, they discussed activities of the Jatiya Sangsad.
Dr Shirin Sharmin said Jatiya Sangsad stands out as one of the architectural masterpieces in the world as world renowned architect Louis Isadore Kahn is the main architect of it.
She apprised of the spouses about the formation of the new government through a neutral election. Ac-tivity of the 12th Jatiya Sangsad began just and the country’s President gives speech at the first parlia-ment session every year and parliament members discuss on the speech of the President, she mentioned.
The JS speaker hoped Foreign-Office-Spouses’-Association (FOSA) will continue its humanitarian works in the days to come.
She thanked the spouses of foreign missions for visiting the Jatiya Sangsad Bhaban.
Earlier, the spouses went around the building including library, parliament session room and north plaza.
Forty six members of the FOSA and Jatiya Sangsad secretariat officials were present.
