After taking oath as a Speaker of 12th Jatiya Sangsad (JS), Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury yesterday paid rich tributes to Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in the city’s Dhanmondi area.
The Speaker showed the deepest respect by placing floral wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu in front of Bangabandhu Memorial Museum at Dhanmondi Road-32 here this morning.
After placing the wreath, she stood there in solemn silence for some time to show profound respect to the great leader and prayed for eternal peace of the departed souls of all the martyrs of August 15 car-nage.
Later, Deputy Speaker Shamsul Huq Tuku, Deputy leader of Jatiya Sangsad (JS) Matia Chowdhury, Chief Whip Noor-E-Alam Chowdhury placed floral wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu.
The newly-appointed Whips– Iqbalur Rahim, MP, Abu Sayeed Al Mahmud Shawpan, MP, Saimum Sarwar Kamal, MP, and Nazrul Islam Babu, MP, also paid rich tributes at the portrait of Father of the Nation.
Besides, Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury along with local Pirganj Awami League leaders also placed floral wreaths at the portrait of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman there.
Concerned high officials of the parliament secretariat were also present, among others, during the time.
