Staff Reporter:

Environment, Forest and Climate Change Minister Saber Hossain Chowdhury yesterday said the process of issuing the environmental clearance will be simplified to minimize the suffering of the people.
“Necessary initiatives will be taken so that the people can get the related services properly and on time,” he said while speaking at a meeting with the officials of the ministry and the Department of Environ-ment (DoE) on the process of issuing environmental clearance.
The meeting was held at the conference room of the ministry at Bangladesh Secretariat here.
Saber Hossain directed the officials concerned to issue environmental clearances systematically with the mindset of providing services, warning that no irregularity will be tolerated to this end.
He said effective measures will be taken to check air pollution to protect public health and legal action will be taken against the brick kilns polluting air.
The environment minister said air pollution will be checked in Dhaka city in coordination with relevant ministries and entities. Other factors responsible for air pollution will be scientifically controlled, he added.
Environment Secretary Dr Farhina Ahmed, Additional Secretary (Administration) Iqbal Abdullah Ha-run, Additional Secretary (Climate Change) Sanjay Kumar Bhowmik, DoE Director General Dr Abdul Hamid and senior officials of the ministry and the DoE were present, among others, at the meeting.
