BNP Secretary General Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir has been shown arrested in nine separate cases filed with Ramna and Paltan Model Police Stations in the capital.
The police pleaded to show him arrested in those cases as he was produced before the court this after-noon.
Dhaka Additional Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Sultan Sohag Uddin yesterday accepted the plea to show Mirza Fakhrul arrested and scheduled the bail hearing for today (Wednesday, January 10) when his lawyer Joynul Abedin filed a petition seeking bail in the nine cases.

On October 28, a chaos broke out as BNP leaders and workers entered into a clash with police in the city’s Nayapaltan and its surrounding areas during BNP’s grand rally.
Amid the clash, BNP men allegedly attacked the residence of the Chief Justice (CJ) and broke one of its gates and damaged its nameplate.
A total of 11 cases– eight with Paltan Model Police Station and three with Ramna Model Police Station– were filed against Fakhrul following the incidents.
On October 29, the BNP Secretary General was arrested from his Gulshan residence by the Detective Branch (DB) of Police and they sent him to jail later.
