Members of Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) seized 4.20 lakh pieces of Yaba drugs along the Tambru
border in Naikhongchhari upazila of Bandarban district early Sunday.
Tipped off, a team of BGB-34 conducted a drive in Nayapara area, about 100 feet inside the Bangladesh
territory around 4:30 am and chased some people, suspected to be smugglers, said a press release of BGB.
Later, the BGB men seized the yaba tablets, wrapped in clothes (lungi) but could not arrest anyone as the
smugglers managed to flee the scene.
BGB’s intelligence surveillance and operations to prevent drug trafficking and smuggling along the
border are continuing. Alongside ensuring border security, such operations will continue in the future to
combat drugs and cross-border crimes.
