The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase (CCGP) has approved a number of proposals including import of 115,000 tonnes (MTs) of fertilizer.
Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal presided over the virtual meeting on Wednesday.
As per the proposals, placed by the Ministry of Industries, its subordinate body Bangladesh Chemical Industries Corporation (BCIC) will purchase 60,000 MTs of fertiliser.
Of these, 300,000 MTs of bulk granular urea fertiliser will be imported from Saudi Arabia-based SABIC Agri-Nutrients Company under state-level agreement while another 30,000 MTs of bulk granular urea will be imported from the UAE-based Fertiglobe Distribution Limited.
As per proposals of the Agriculture Minister, its subordinate body Bangladesh Agriculture Development Corporation (BADC) will import 25,000 MTs of TSP fertiliser from GCT of Tunisia while it will import 30,000 Mts of MOP fertiliser from JSC Foreign Economic Corporation “Prodintorg” of Russia under a state level agreement.
