Bangladesh to host National Safeguarding Leadership Summit 2026

Staff Reporter:

Haileybury Bhaluka, in partnership with Cambridge University Press & Assessment, will host the National Safeguarding Leadership Summit 2026 on Wednesday, 16 September, at the Sky Ballroom of Le Méridien Dhaka.

The summit will bring together senior policymakers, school leaders, educators and safeguarding practitioners to discuss child protection and ways to create safer school environments across Bangladesh.

State Minister for Primary and Mass Education Bobby Hajjaj will attend the summit as the chief guest.

The event will focus on strengthening safeguarding standards in the country’s education sector through discussions on child protection, staff training, reporting systems and other measures to ensure children’s safety and wellbeing.

Leading international safeguarding organisations will support the summit, bringing global standards, frameworks and best practices to the discussions.

Cambridge University Press & Assessment, which is partnering with Haileybury Bhaluka to organise the event, will draw on its experience of working with schools, educators and policymakers in Bangladesh to support the initiative.

The summit is being spearheaded by Simon O’Grady, who has worked to raise awareness of safeguarding and child protection standards in Bangladesh’s schools.

The event will focus on practical strategies that school leaders can adopt to strengthen child protection policies, staff training and reporting mechanisms.

“This summit is about ensuring that every child in every school in Bangladesh grows up in an environment where their safety and wellbeing come first,” said Simon O’Grady.

“By bringing together government, international expertise and school leadership under one roof, we hope to accelerate a genuine, nationwide culture of safeguarding.”

The summit will also provide participants with practical tools and shared insights to strengthen safeguarding frameworks in their respective institutions.
