President calls to uphold spirit of July Uprising

President Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir yesterday called for building a democratic, justice-based, discrimination-free and humane state system being imbued with the spirit of the July Mass Upris-ing.
“It is our responsibility to build a democratic, justice-based, discrimination-free and humane state system by upholding the spirit of the July Mass Uprising. The role of such preservation and muse-ums is extremely important in presenting the history of the July Mass Uprising properly to the up-coming generations,” he said.
The President made the remarks while visiting the July Mass Uprising Memorial Museum in the capital yesterday morning, President’s Press Secretary said at a briefing.
Earlier, Cultural Affairs Minister Nitai Roy Chowdhury, Cultural Affairs State Minister Ali Nawaz Mahmud Khayyam, Prime Minister’s Adviser on Policy and Strategy Dr. Zahed Ur Rahman, Secre-tary of the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, Director General of the July Mass Uprising Memorial Muse-um, and senior officials from the President’s Office and the concerned ministry welcomed the Pres-ident to the July Memorial Museum.
His wife, Rahat Ara Begum, was with the President at the time.
During the visit, museum’s research team members Zubayer Ibn Kamal and Farhan Masud briefed the President about various installations and documents of the museum.
At the end of the visit, the President signed the museum’s visitors’ book.
Members of the July Museum Governing Board Sanjida Islam Tuli, Abrar Elias and Mir Mahbubur Rahman Snigdha were also present during the visit.
