Kishoreganj: Three people were killed and three others injured when a covered van rammed into a CNG-run auto-rickshaw on the Kishoreganj-Bhairab Highway in Katiadi upazila of Kishoreganj dis-trict on Sunday.
The deceased were identified as Rabeya Akter, 45, wife of Badiul Alam, Jaramoni Akter, 10, daugh-ter of Nurul Haque of Kakalchar village in Ajmiriganj upazila of Habiganj district and Milon Mia, son of Abdul Motin Mia of Tarail upazila in Kishoreganj.
The accident occurred at Tebhaga around 3pm when the covered van hit the CNG-run auto-rickshaw, coming from the opposite direction, leaving six people injured, said Rafiqul Islam, Of-ficer-in-Charge of Katiadi Police Station.
The injured were taken to Katiadi Upazila Health Complex, where doctors declared Rabeya and Jaramoni dead.
Later, Milon Mia succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment, police said.
The three other injured people — Jharna Begum, 30, Badiul Alam, 50, and Priya Akter — were shifted to Shaheed Syed Nazrul Islam Medical College and Hospital for better treatment.
