More than 50,000 Bangladeshi Hajj pilgrims have already reached Saudi Arabia to perform Hajj, while 12 pilgrims have died during the ongoing pilgrimage season, according to the latest data from the Ministry of Religious Affairs.
The update, published through the Hajj Management Portal’s IT helpdesk bulletin as of May 8, 2026 (Saudi time), states that a total of 50,096 pilgrims have reached Saudi Arabia so far. Of them, 4,071 travelled under government management, while 46,025 went through private arrangements.
This year’s Hajj is expected to be held on May 26, subject to moon sighting. Since the start of the Hajj operations on April 18, a total of 128 flights have been operated. Among them, Biman Bangladesh Airlines operated 59 flights, Saudi Airlines 47 flights, and Flynas Airlines 22 flights.
In terms of passenger transport, Biman Bangladesh Airlines carried 23,591 pilgrims, Saudi Airlines transported 17,646, and Flynas Airlines carried 8,859 pilgrims to Saudi Arabia.
Medical support services in Saudi Arabia have also been active, with 18,987 automated medical prescriptions issued so far. In addition, IT help desks have provided 13,011 support services to pilgrims.
Authorities confirmed that among the 12 deceased pilgrims are 10 men and 2 women. Of them, 10 died in Makkah and 2 in Madinah. The latest reported death is that of 53-year-old Md. Abdul Matin from Jashore.
According to officials, the last Hajj flight from Bangladesh is scheduled for May 21. The return flights will begin on May 30 after completion of Hajj rituals, with the final return flight scheduled for June 30.
