Govt wants to end exam fear: Mahdi

Staff Reporter:

Prime Minister’s Adviser to the Ministry of Education Mahdi Amin yesterday said the government wants to eliminate exam fear from the minds of students as well as guardians and conduct examinations in a joyful and positive atmosphere.
“The present people-friendly government wants to remove exam fear from the minds of students. This year’s SSC and equivalent candidates have been deprived of the primary and junior scholarship examina-tions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This is the first full-syllabus public examination of their lives,” he said.
Mahdi Amin, also Prime Minister’s Adviser to the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education, said this at a press conference at the Ministry of Education regarding the upcoming SSC and equivalent examina-tions starting today.
Education Minister Dr ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon was present at the event.
Mahdi said necessary instructions have been given to all concerned so that examination centres do not become a source of panic in any way.
“We believe that the creativity and courage these young students showed on the streets during the mass uprising last July will be reflected in the examination. Law enforcement agencies have been instructed to perform their duties with utmost restraint,” he added.
Mahdi, also Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) spokesperson, directed the heads of educational institutions to ensure safe water, adequate lighting and fans, hygienic toilets, and emergency power (IPS/generator) systems.
He said necessary instructions have also been given to ensure the safe and smooth travel of students.
Director General (Additional Charge) of the Directorate of Secondary and Higher Education Professor Dr Khan Moinuddin Al Mahmud Sohel, along with chairmen of various education boards, were present at the press conference.
