Education Minister ANM Ehsanul Hoque Milon said on Wednesday that the government will soon begin the teacher recruitment process.
“Teacher recruitment and postings had been stalled due to different complexities during the previous government’s tenure. The recruitment process will begin very soon,” he said.
The minister made the remarks at a views-exchange meeting with centre secretaries of the SSC and equivalent examinations-2026, organised by the Sylhet Education Board and madrasa and technical education boards of the region at Jalalabad Gas Auditorium in the Sylhet city.
He said, “The prime minister has already announced plans to increase education sector allocation to 5% of GDP. The government is also planning to construct multipurpose examination centres in every upazila.”
He added that all necessary steps would be implemented to improve the education sector.
“The government is working in phases to resolve different problems faced by teachers,” the minister said, adding that English medium institutions are also being brought under greater accountability.
He also said 18 educational institutions affected by the Sylhet-Dhaka highway six-lane project would be relocated on an urgent basis.
Members of parliament from different constituencies in Sylhet, along with teachers from the sadar and upazila levels, attended the meeting and highlighted different challenges in the region’s education system.
