Another oil tanker carrying around 34,000 tonnes of diesel from Malaysia reached Chattogram Port early Saturday, amid ongoing concerns over fuel supply due to the war in the Middle East.
The China-flagged vessel “Shan Gang Fa Xian” reached Kutubdia around 12am.
Its local agent ‘Pride Shipping Lines’ Managing Director Nazrul Islam told the Daily Sun that after lightering some 5,000 tonnes of cargos, the ship will berth at the dolphin jetty on Sunday to discharge the rest of the cargo.
He informed that with this, a total of 10 ships carrying diesel and one carrying both diesel and jet fuel have reached Bangladesh since the beginning of March.
According to the Chittagong Port Authority (CPA) sources, some 44 vessels have already reached the country with LNG, Monoethylene Glycol (MEG), High Sulfur Fuel Oil (HSFO), crude oil, gas oil, LPG, LNG and base oil since the war started on 28 February.
