Staff Reporter:
A fire broke out on the Chattala Express train traveling from Chattogram to Dhaka.
The incident occurred around 7:00am on Thursday in the Fouzdarhat area of Sitakunda.
Assistant Officer of Kumira Fire Station Ehsan Ali told Daily Sun that the fire started while the train was on its way to Dhaka in the morning. Two fire service units managed to bring the blaze under control after an hour-long effort around 8:00am. The train’s power car and one air-conditioned coach were damaged in the fire.
“Initially, it appears that the fire may have originated from the power car, but the matter is being investigated,” he said.
Earlier, the intercity train had departed from Chattogram Railway Station at 6:00am for Dhaka.
