The death count from dengue has reached 200 in 2025, with two more fatalities reported in the past 24 hours till Wednesday morning.
In the 24-hour span, 490 more patients were hospitalised with viral fever, raising the total caseload to 47,832 this year.
Last year, the Aedes mosquito-borne disease claimed the lives of 575 people. There were 1,01,214 dengue cases and 1,00,040 recoveries in the same year, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
In 2023, dengue killed 1,705 people and sent 3,21,179 others to hospitals.
This year, the country witnessed 10 deaths in January, three in February, seven in April, three in May, 19 in June, 41 in July, 39 in August, and 76 in September.
As of now, 60.6% men and 39.4% women have been infected with dengue from 1 January this year, the DGHS said.
Currently, 2,359 patients are receiving treatment in hospitals across the country.
